NEIGHBOURHOOD DEVELOPMENT
Stop the Sprawl
Building out instead of up has led to urban sprawl, which is coming back to financially haunt many cities in Manitoba - it is financially unsustainable in the long run. Although Morden is still relatively small, with our current growth rate, we need to rethink the way we build subdivisions now. This goes hand in hand with the question: how do we wean people away from the car and encourage healthy new ways of living? Can we do this or will it only change once ga$ hits the astronomical price range? We have all experienced the recent hike - what price will it take to start rethinking our city planning towards density and walkable convenience? Changing habits is a difficult process, but these are the starting points for promoting healthier communities.
