RETAINING NEWCOMERS

Morden is a place that actively welcomes newcomers from all over the world. As a community built on diversity, we have programs in place to attract and settle newcomers. But often newcomer families feel unsure and not integrated into Canadian lifestyles after they have settled, have found a job and a place to live.
They still feel disconnected from their Canadian neighbours, maybe sometimes there is a lack communication between neighbours - Canadians don't want to offend a newcomer family by being too friendly, or the new family doesn't know the Canadian culture of friendliness yet and finds it awkward. 
Our goal is to find a way to close that gap and make newcomers a fully integrated part of our community. 
We need to cultivate a front yard culture and get people out of their backyards. It is also time to establish a block-party
